There are several go to color combination that we all know.
triadic
secondary triadic
tertiary
complementary
split complementary.

My favorite one is split complementary. As a rule of thumb, I use one general color for most of the painting, then another color in a smaller percentage, then one color as accent.

testing out what drawing these two in Toon Boom with my new Cintiq feels like, for no particular reason.

Would you recommend toon boom?

If you can run it, yes. If you’re using Flash instead, yeeesssss. It’s way more animation friendly, in that it’s actually an animation program, and a pretty good drawing program as well. Whereas Flash can’t decide if it’s animation or web design or actionscript or bleh, but it ties a bunch of things together like cute little bow. Worn by a rat king.

Don’t forget to mention that inking and drawing is sooo much easier. And you don’t have to turn anything into a symbol if you happen to tween a drawing
